Thomas Bolt Gosselin

Tom Gosselin brings over 30 years of international experience in developing leaders who drive organizational performance.  Over the course of his career, Tom has focused on executive coaching and leadership development, including a coaching model for leaders in transition. In his practice, Tom has explored emotional intelligence and developed interventions and coaching techniques to build EI in executives. Tom has also been involved in several major transformational change initiatives with large clients.

Tom’s book Practical Negotiating: Tools, Tactics, and Techniques has been hailed as “a thoughtful, engaging, and practical guide on a topic of increasing importance to leaders and organizations.”   In addition to his negotiation skills workshops, Tom has also been involved in several major negotiations with large clients. For instance he has helped negotiation teams in both Scripps Networks, and MTV Networks to achieve better results and develop stronger partnerships with major service operators (i.e. Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Direct TV etc.)

He has coached at all levels of organizations, from CEO to star individual contributors. Tom has served clients in: financial services, consulting and professional services, executive search, insurance, media, manufacturing, travel services, pharmaceutical and medical products, and consumer products including: Athenhealth, Booz & Company, Ford Motor Company, Ingersoll Rand, J.P. Morgan-Chase, Johnson & Johnson, Lincoln Financial, Marsh, Mercer, McKinsey & Company, Philips, Putnam Investments, Spencer Stuart, State Street Corporation, and others.

Earlier in his career, Tom led large-scale organization development projects at MCI Telecommunications, Freddie Mac, and the US Department of Labor as a consultant with the Sterling Institute. In his work on change, Tom has focused on understanding the effects of organizational change especially downsizing on individual and organizational performance. His article: “Downsizing Syndrome: Reaction and Response” (HR Horizons, 1991) was the culmination of years of research and observation of organizations ranging from government to dot coms. Tom often leverages his previous experience as a psychotherapist in exploring organizational and interpersonal dynamics.

Tom received a BA from St. John’s in Philosophy and Psychology, and an MSW from Catholic University. He also studied Organizational Behavior at George Washington University and at Boston College. Tom has been a guest lecturer on power and influence in organizations at The Harvard Business School, and he has co-designed and led the Executive Coaching Certification Programs at NYU.  Tom is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches (ACEC).

Tom’s other interests include playing guitar in a Celtic band and sailing.
